Call for clarity on Covid-19 tests for hauliers

Hauliers have called for "clarity" regarding a new Covid-19 testing regime for truck drivers travelling to the continent as it seems likely that new antigen test centres near Irish ports will not be operational until tomorrow.

The French Government has decided that all commercial drivers travelling from Ireland to France from tomorrow will have to have evidence of a negative test result.

According to the Department of Transport, the French authorities have advised that this will apply to drivers travelling on any ferry setting sail from Ireland to France after 11pm today.

A DFDS ferry is due to leave Rosslare at 10pm sailing to Dunkirk in northeast France.

The Department has been working with Transport Infrastructure Ireland and Wexford
